Erosion-deposition Prone Assessment Along the Kelantan and Terengganu Coasts Due to Sea Level Rise

چکیده

Abstract The erosion-prone zone is characterised by nearshore sand formed the combined action of tides, wind, and recurring waves crashing on beach. By running perpendicular to coastline bathymetry, 51 cross-shore sections were chosen from a total 54 study longshore transport along beaches Kelantan Terengganu. hydrodynamic model was used determine water level, current speed, spectral density, while Spectral Wave Model LitDrift construct boundary wave variables Net Transport across each sector. output compared previously published zones in NCES Report (2015), results agreed. net transfer varies based angle coastline, direction waves, beach profile. ranges -693,000 m3/year 444,000 depending profile, direction, coastline. transit for section also calculated 2030, 2050, 2100, taking into consideration sea level rise. most recent IPCC assessment (AR6) applied generate SLR forecasts year 2100. According statistics, all are expected increase whereas only 53% 67% develop 2050 respectively. From 2030 2100 2020, Terengganu grows 9.5%, 10%, 4.5%, respectively.Net transportation grow until then steadily decline However, using better anticipated model, this inquiry can be improved.

Increased nuisance flooding along the coasts of the United States due to sea level rise: Past and future

Mean sea level has risen tenfold in recent decades compared to the most recent millennia, posing a serious threat for population and assets in flood-prone coastal zones over the next century. An increase in the frequency of nuisance (minor) flooding has also been reported due to the reduced gap between high tidal datums and flood stage, and the rate of sea level rise (SLR) is expected to increa...

Assessment of Hammocks (Petenes) Resilience to Sea Level Rise Due to Climate Change in Mexico

There is a pressing need to assess resilience of coastal ecosystems against sea level rise. To develop appropriate response strategies against future climate disturbances, it is important to estimate the magnitude of disturbances that these ecosystems can absorb and to better understand their underlying processes. Hammocks (petenes) coastal ecosystems are highly vulnerable to sea level rise lin...

Chapter 7: POTENTIAL COASTAL EROSION OF THE SWAN COASTAL PLAIN DUE TO LONG- TERM SEA LEVEL RISE

It is highly likely that coastal erosion due to long-term sea level rise associated with global warming will have a significant impact on Australia’s coastal systems, and any associated infrastructure, over the next century. Long-term coastal erosion is thought to occur largely through sudden-onset storm events. Therefore, attempting to quantify this natural hazard is critical to future develop...

SEA-LEVEL RISE. Sea-level rise due to polar ice-sheet mass loss during past warm periods.

Interdisciplinary studies of geologic archives have ushered in a new era of deciphering magnitudes, rates, and sources of sea-level rise from polar ice-sheet loss during past warm periods. Accounting for glacial isostatic processes helps to reconcile spatial variability in peak sea level during marine isotope stages 5e and 11, when the global mean reached 6 to 9 meters and 6 to 13 meters higher...

Sea Level Changes Along Global Coasts from Satellite Altimetry, GPS and Tide Gauge

The average global sea level was rising through the 20th century as a result of global warming [8, 9, 26]. The Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) estimated that between 1901 and 2010, the mean sea level rate 1.7±0.2 mm/yr and increased to 3.2±0.4 mm/yr between 1993 and 2010, and projected that in 2100 the largest increase in global average sea level ...
